It’s Day 36 of “Operation Cooperation” and the Church continues to be the first and foremost responders in Louisiana’s twin tragedies.
Last week at this time, we were just emerging from Rita’s wrath and assessing the damage—which has proven extensive. For example, Lake Charles officials alone estimate that full electric power may be weeks away! Today, we are on the ground assessing needs in the community.
Seldom has such an unselfish cooperation among churches led to such an immediate impact to the culture! Consider:
- Tens of thousands of meals served daily
- 10,000 + Citizens serviced
- 465 Trucks moved
- Thousands served at relief points
- 18 Warehouses
- 3000 In-state volunteers deployed
- 600 Out-of-state volunteers deployed
- 1500 Doctor/client encounters
Perhaps you too are fully engaged and totally immersed in relief and reconstruction efforts. PRC Compassion would love to partner with you in rebuilding Louisiana’s ruins! Together, we can accomplish so much more than any one of us could separately.
Consider Luke 19:13-26, the Parable of the Minas.
Jesus tells of the master who gave minas (money/talents) to his servants “and said to them, 'Do business with this until I come back.'” Upon his return, “The first appeared, saying, 'Master, your mina has made ten minas more.' "And he said to him, 'Well done, good servant, because you have been faithful in a very little thing, you are to be in authority over ten cities.'
Each of us has received “one network of influence” from the Master. Imagine the joy the Father feels when he gazes upon the pastors of Louisiana and the Gulf States, and He sees their joint influence and resources—entire networks connecting in unlikely cooperation with each other.
Depending on what we do with the “minas” that He has given us, we’ll hear the Master say: “I’ll increase your influence from one city to over five cities or even ten cities!”
PRC Compassion stands ready to assist, cooperate, and facilitate the important work before each of us in restoring Louisiana. Here’s what I invite you to share with each of us:
Names and current mobile phone numbers of pastors who have been displaced by these twin tragedies. Name and address of their church and their current situation, also.
Currently, there is a weekly need for approximately 700.
A summary of your relief efforts and ideas so that PRC Compassion can link arms with you and assist those who are most needy without duplicating efforts.
Join Pastors praying for sustaining grace that will follow this operation through to completion.
We are contending with distractions and division—spiritual vultures would love to cut our “nets-work!”
This principle of one-mindedness and the Will of the Lord must be sought and sustained as though it is of great value. Our enemy understands this, and is conducting guerrilla warfare with that knowledge.
Stay in the fight!
P.S. You are invited to attend a special Roundtable Discussion just for Pastors with Congressman Bobby Jindal and White House Director of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives Jim Towey about church-based relief efforts:
