The Rev. Drew Williams is a veteran Crim 10-mile road racer, but he is doing the equivalent of five Crims on Saturday to raise funds for victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The pastor of Light Fellowship Church, 11423 Davis St., plans to be in Huntsville, Texas, to run in the Sunmart Texas Trail 50-mile ultra event in a local park.
Williams, 48, said he is the only one making the trip from this area this year, but "hopefully there will be more next year."
"In these challenging times for our own community I hope we can all realize that some are worse off," he said. "It's the Christmas season and many in the Gulf region have lost everything,"
Donations for Williams' run can be sent to Light Fellowship Church, P. O. Box 156, Grand Blanc, MI 48480. They will be forwarded to PRC Compassion, a pastors' research council heavily involved in relief work in Baton Rouge and across the hurricane area.
